We started Elevate last week with these questions:
If we have authority in Christ, what are we doing with it?
If He’s changed my life, what’s changed?
What is my dream? My passion? How has my dream changed because of Christ?
Then, we dove into the following Scripture:
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:18-19
“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18
Everything in these verses are things we are told to go and do – not things the Lord is supposed to do for us. He’s come and He’s conquered; now He tells us to go and do.”
But in life, we find ourselves looking at verses like these and saying, “Your Word says this; but this is not what I see. Why?”
God looks at things differently than we look at things. His ways are higher. His thoughts are higher. He’s looking for people who will believe Him and act like it.
“For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Romans 4:3
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8
We have to choose to act like His promise is true even if we don’t feel like it is true. Are the promises less real if we don’t see the answer in two seconds?
“For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12
When God gave direction to Abraham, He was directing someone He talked with, not someone He didn’t know. And Abraham only lived to see the beginning of the miraculous calling God promised him. We must press into God and find out what He has for us. Why would it be crazy for Him to call you to anything?
Hope is a picture, a dream. Faith is the substance of dreams, the evidence of the unseen. Faith is believing God. Period.
If you don’t believe, you won’t go. If you don’t have authority to control your thoughts, you won’t go. If you don’t dream, you won’t go.
So, what dream do you claim as yours? What do you see and who put it there?
